Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, Paul Anka, Randy Bachman - those are just some of Canada's finest songwriters who will now have a permanent home in Calgary.

On Friday, the National Music Centre announced a partnership with the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame that will see it set up shop in the new Studio Bell currently being built in the city's East Village.

The new addition will join the previously announced Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame Collection in being displayed on the fifth level of the 160,000-square-foot facility.

"We are thankful to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame for this exciting partnership that will allow us to recognize the amazing legacy of Canadian songwriters," director of programs for NMC Adam Fox said in a statement.

"Finally, Canada will have a physical place to visit these three important national halls of fame, and through our programming we can celebrate our pioneers and icons."

The $168-million Studio Bell is set for a summer 2016 opening, and will feature performances rooms, exhibition spaces and a ground-level, storefront studio for Alberta broadcaster CKUA.

It will also be previewed early next year, when the Juno Awards return to Calgary March 28 to April 3, 2016.
