Following a revered debut at the Roundhouse in 2024, two sold out tours and widespread critical acclaim, The Songs of Joni Mitchell will return for a special one-off performance at the Southbank Centre on International Women’s Day, followed by a series of shows and festivals to be announced for 2026, including Brudenell Social Club in Leeds and Cambridge Folk Festival.

Jesca Hoop, Kate Stables (This Is The Kit) & Lail Arad, acclaimed singer-songwriters in their own right, will perform intimate interpretations of their favourite Joni Mitchell songs in a loving ode to one of the finest songwriters of all time. They will be joined by pianist Richard Sears and very special guests to be announced.

Past guests of The Songs Of Joni Mitchell include Vashti Bunyan, Lisa Hannigan, Simon Armitage, Emeli Sandé, Gail Ann Dorsey, Rachel Sermanni, Sam Amidon and BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews.

Originally conceived and curated by Lail Arad to mark Joni Mitchell’s 80th birthday, the show was described as “a perfect celebration of Joni Mitchell” (Get In Her Ears), packed with “heartfelt and intricate performances”.

Jesca Hoop, just a few months prior, presented Legend: The Joni Mitchell Story, the award-winning 6-part BBC Radio documentary and podcast about the life of Joni Mitchell, lending further gravitas to the event.

Born out of their mutual love for Joni Mitchell – and tour bus bonding over other favourite artists – Hoop and Arad are joining forces to launch Songs Of, a rolling concert series celebrating the world’s finest songwriters, through the intimate interpretations and unique voices of those they’ve inspired.

Ahead of their last tour they also released a companion EP on Small Matter Records: The Songs Of Joni Mitchell Vol. 1. These up close and personal recordings offer fresh interpretations of four treasured Joni Mitchell songs and provide a lovely hint of what to expect on stage.
