They've just released the first season of Northern Exposure on DVD and I was surprised to revisit an old episode called "Dreams, Schemes and Putting Greens" (I believe that's the right episode) and Maggie and Joel have a confrontation over some land that was willed to them - Joel wants a golf course...and I believe it's Maggie that starts reading/quoting him Chief Seattle's "letter" (for lack of a better word). Interesting....and especially considering the title of the episode...

Now that I look at the episode guide, I'm thinking the "Chief Seattle" reference appeared in the "Soapy Sanderson" episode and NOT the "Dreams, Schemes and Putting Greens" episode. But it sure seemed like a great connection! I guess I COULD just pull out the DVDs before I get carried away writing. Sorry about the confusion.
