A musical tribute to singer songwriter and legendary composer Joni Mitchell, PazFest IV is also a fundraising celebration for the continuing support of the Ruth Paz Pediatric Surgery and Burn Hospital in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The goal of the Ruth Paz Pediatric Surgery and Burn Hospital is to deliver burn wound management care to children in Honduras, therefore reducing the overall pediatric morbidity and mortality due to burns nationally. The hospital also meets the excess demand for pediatric surgeries, decreasing the waiting periods at the regional level.

Named for Ruth Paz, a US native who dedicated her life to helping the underprivileged children of Honduras, the Ruth Paz Pediatric Surgery and Burn Hospital is a program of The Ruth Paz Foundation, which has been active in seeking medical treatment for children for over 30 years.

"My mother was an incredible guardian for the children of Honduras and I am honored that the musicians of New Orleans would come together for this important cause," said PazFest founder, Michael Paz, who moved to New Orleans in 1971 and has been a part of the New Orleans music scene for over 40 years.

In May of 2000, a diverse group of musicians and fans gathered at the Howlin' Wolf for PazFest I, a memorable night of music that started the fundraising effort to support the Ruth Paz Pediatric Surgery and Burn Hospital. The project broke ground in 2004 and was completed in August 2010. A CD of PazFest I was released and continues to fund this very important project. It can be purchased at http://www.cdbaby.com/pazfest. Seventeen years later, PazFest IV will celebrate the music of Joni Mitchell as it continues to support the very important work of the hospital.
